They enjoy slamming doors, running up and down hallways, staring at their phones for extended periods of time, and getting drunk. The clientele seems to be drunk English people aged 18 to 25. To adequately clean the entire pod would be a time-consuming endeavour so I'd assume, from my experience and also previous reviews, that this lack of cleanliness is an ongoing issue. The walls, small shelf, and control pad for the lights and fan were all obviously dirty from the last occupant. There was a (blood?) stain on the mattess. Nowhere to sit your belongings when you're at the sink cleaning your teeth - not even a hook - and ONE SINK for an ENTIRE FLOOR of dorm rooms?!? Bad design is an understatement. Hair clogging the shower, mud and hair on the floor, overflowing bin. There are 616+ hotels available in LyLo Christchurch - Formerly Jucy Snooze Christchurch. The bathrooms are very small, poorly designed and when I was there, very dirty. The cheapest way to get from Christchurch Airport (CHC) to LyLo Christchurch - Formerly Jucy Snooze Christchurch costs only 5, and the quickest way takes just 2 mins. The comically loud clanging CLUNK of metal-on-metal you'll hear each time someone closes the doom room door ensures you'll never get a full night's sleep. Because there's no ventilation, the room is perpetually HOT, STUFFY and SMELLY. How can something so hazardous to one's health be overlooked? You and your dorm mates will be breathing in carbon monoxide for 8ish hours each night. Be warned, the Pod dorm rooms are WINDOWLESS and NOT VENTILATED. FREE lockable storage drawer: located under your pod, fits a standard sized suitcase easily, straightforward to operate. ![]() Pod Bed: The privacy the roll-down blind/curtain affords is something us budget travellers have been rigging ourselves (using towels, usually) for years! The built-in device-charging dock, light, fan and eslasticised pocket are all clever, handy design features. Every single staff member I spoke with, from my initial phone call to my final goodbye, was really friendly and seemed to genuinely love their job. The customer service here is exemplary. I had high hopes for this hostel but I was bitterly disappointed, and left early in the morning after my first night VERY tired.
